Good of Good's Company, Texas Light Artillery State Troops (44 men listed by CWSS, no date) also listed in **Douglas' Co, Texas State Artillery (203 men, CWSS, no date)."    John J. Good was a captain in Co C, Dallas TX Light Artillery Battery (162 men, American Civil War Research Database, includes dates, see regiment assignments toward bottom of page.).   "Douglas' unit was made up of an equal number of men and boys from Dallas and Tyler, Smith County TX. (150 miles distant)."    per Natalie Newton Massengale of Gainesville TX.***

Lt-Colonel Chaplin Good of Good's Texas Battn, Texas Cavalry (287 men, CWSS, no date) became part of Wells' Battalion, Texas Cavalry (594 men, CWSS, no date).  Private Chaplin Good commanding TX Good Battn Cavalry (261 men, American Civil War Research Database, includes dates).  Lt-Colonel Chaplin Good in Wells' Texas Cavalry (581 men, American Civil War Research Database, includes dates).   Recruits from Dallas Co TX and the Panola Co TX area (170 miles distant).   Chaplin Good had been a Lt-Colonel in the Missouri State Troops organization since 1861 after not graduating from West Point (1852-1856).
