Please help identify these Confederates
The
building is at the corner of Commerce and North Main Streets, Altus,
Oklahoma. Below, I
only listed those, in order of the roster on the right, within a
day's wagon ride of Altus TX.
1) Taylor, William Taylor, of Gibson Co TN, a
Private in Co. H, 12th TN Infantry, CSA, his hand severely wounded Battle
of Shiloh; m,1-Elizabeth Virginia McRee, 2 ch; m,2-Dyer Co TN to
Frances Elizabeth Enochs, 6 ch; arrived 1891 in Altus; William helped
to organize the
Altus Confederate Veterans
and was affectionately called "General" by the group.

probably Kimberlin, Richard
Samuel Kimberlin, Jr., (1843-1932)- looks like the man in front of the
drum. I noticed his proud carriage. Capt. R.S.
Kimberlin's Company: D Unit: 12th Missouri Cavalry.

lived in Clarendon TX

Kimberlin (1848-1932), probably served in Co D of the CSA Missouri
12th Cavalry during the last months of the Civil War. . He
lived in Altus OK. " I have not found a
record of his service." per

Infantry, wounded Aug 9, 1862 Cedar Mountain VA. One
Thomas S. Bugbee of Washburn ME enlisted as a QM Sgt in Field & Staff,
Union 29th ME Infantry, then
transferred May 31, 1864 to Field & Staff; Mustered Out on 10/4/1864.
Lived Clarendon TX. (I submit Thos. S. Bugbee is same
person as Thos. L. Bugbee, since I cannot discern a capital "S" from
an "L" in Civil War era handwriting.)
